Recruitment and Retention Ideas from SLW Submitted By: Various FFA Members and Chapters
Description: • Barron FFA- Host an Ag Olympics for all of the FFA members to participated in.
• Black Hawk FFA- Host Food for America for 4th graders, allowing members to promote the importance of agriculture to younger students.
• Black River Falls FFA - Have a bonfire for the entire chapter.
• Bloomer FFA- Take the members to the World’s Toughest Rodeo in St. Paul, MN for a trip.
• Brookwood FFA -Delivering fruit to the elderly for a community service project.
• Cashton FFA -Have an Alumni Picnic to get parents of FFA members involved in the alumni. Host card part for members to come and have a good time.
• Coleman FFA-Ice Cream Social for all of the members after a meeting.
• Columbus FFA- Have your chapter make a float for homecoming parade.
• Darlington FFA- Have a petting zoo during FFA week and have members bring in the animals.
• Darlington FFA- Host a lock-in for incoming freshmen or new members.
• Desoto FFA - Have a party for no reason.
• Elmwood FFA -Take the chapter paint balling.
• Flambeau FFA - Have a scavenger hunt in the hay during FFA week.
• Freedom FFA -(Liz Schwalbach)- Have a corn roast after school or on a weekend to get members together.
• G-E-T FFA -Kiss a farm animal to raise money for the Humane Society. Ask teachers to participate. Put their names and picture on buckets. Whichever teacher has the most money in their bucket has to kiss the farm animal.
• Gillett FFA-Host a steak fry during school.
• Hartford FFA -Bring your tractor to school for FFA week. Have open gym for FFA members once a month to play dodge ball, basketball, and other activities.
• Hillsboro FFA -(Marissa Clark)- Have a Jell-O Wresting Contest during FFA week.
• Holmen FFA -Have a contest to see which class can get every student in their class to be a FFA member. Reward the class with a pizza party. Another way to promote getting good grades is to host a steak and bean meal for everyone who raises their GPA.
• Iowa-Grant FFA-Take the members on a ski trip.
• Janesville Craig FFA -Take student on a trip to any agriculture businesses allowing them to see where they can work in the future.
• Johnson Creek FFA -Have a bowling nigh with alumni. This is a great way to promote FFA members to join the alumni after graduation.
• Kiel FFA - (Jessica Cook)-Have an ice cream social to help FFA members meet other FFA members.
• Lancaster FFA- Go to the Badger Hockey for a trip.
• Manawa FFA -Have FFA dances with a cool themes and a custom contests.
• Manawa FFA -Have your chapter participate in Jump Rope for Heart.
• Melrose FFA -Mindoro-Have your chapter have a Big Buck Contest in October.
• Milton FFA- Take members fishing.
• Monticello FFA-Host a Pancake Breakfast during school for the members.
• New Richmond FFA -Take the members camping. Host a movie night after football games, with karaoke and a drawing contest.
• Oshkosh North FFA- Host a movie night.
• Pulaski FFA -Have a hayride, but every member needs to bring a friend or sibling.
• Seymour FFA - Have a family night, with games and food for everyone.
• Slinger FFA - Do turkey bowling during the holidays.
• Sparta FFA - Go on a Junior and Senior trip.
• Spooner FFA - Host Oil Recycling Day and clean the Hwy. Reward the students that help with a pizza party.
• Suring FFA- Host a demo derby, haunted forest, and tailgate party for high school games like football, volleyball, basketball, and other sports.
• Waupaca FFA- Host an 8th Grade Career Day to get FFA members involved.
• White Hall FFA- Host a corn maze. Take the members on ATV Trips.
• Memorial FFA-Take FFA members on an Ag Road Trip by visiting farms, dairy factors, or other agriculture companies, then finish the trip by going to a Brewers game.
• Winneconne FFA-Invite middle school students to your first meeting. If members sign up by a certain time they are invited to a pizza party.
• Wittenberg-Birnamwood-Host donkey basketball for the community.

If your chapter all ready does some of these activities, maybe call up those chapters and share ideas.

Description: We take a trip to a Timber Rattlers game and invite all incoming freshman along with current and past FFA members.

Packer Tailgate Party Submitted By: Sevastopol
Description: Sunday afternoon game. Start with hotdogs and brats. Give them tickets for joining and paying dues as well as attending events from September 1st to game day. Then give away a big screen TV and other door prizes.
Special supplies: food for game and door prizes

Description: Go to middle school one day at lunch with information and fliers

Floats on Friday Submitted By: Tim Heeg, Marshfield FFA
Description: Offered on a Friday late in September, where we prepared and serve root beer floats to everybody that has their dues paid by that date.
Special supplies: Root beer, ice cream and other float supplies

Pancake Feed Submitted By: Tim Heeg, Marshfield FFA
Description: We hold a pancake feed for students enrolled in Ag classes, early in the school year. We also invite school teachers and staff. We feed them pancakes, sausages, cheese curds and milk. It helps promote membership and helps with PR with teachers. It’s also helpful in preparing our members to make pancakes and sausages for our June Dairy Breakfast.
Special supplies: Pancake batter, syrup, sausages, pancake grills, milk

Big Buck Win a T.V. Contest Submitted By: Matt Reinders, Loyal FFA
Description: Purchase a TV for about $200 and all they have to do is sign up on a sheet to enter. No entry fee, but they have to be an FFA member. Biggest rack with the Boon and Crockett system wins the TV.
Special supplies: Scoring system for the antler rack. A TV to give away
