SOCK jingle!
Mar. 07, 2010
Yesterday my team and I spent the day with some future State FFA Officers at the SOCK workshop in Madison. Around 20 state officer candidates met to learn all about the election process and have any questions answered that they might have at this point. This workshop was a great way for them to network with other people who are in the same boat they are in and get pumped for running for office. It was a GREAT day and I hope each of them gained a lot from the experience.
Thank you to Madison Collegiate FFA and everyone else who assisted in making this possible!
Tomorrow is the Section 3 Sectional Speaking Contest! I can't wait to see all the competitors and I wish them all the best of luck!

March Madness
Mar. 01, 2010
March is here!!!!!!!!! We are now starting the next part of the year. Banquets, convention prep, and spring arrive! I can't wait for all these things to begin.
This week I will be working on a whole bunch of committee work and then on Saturday I will head to Madison for the SOCK (State Officer Candidate Kickoff) conference. This conference will be a great experience for all the candidates. They will have the opportunity to really learn about the whole selection process and receive some valuable tips on what to expect.
Happy March! Jessica
Fantastic Farm Forum!
Feb. 26, 2010
As FFA Week winds down, the Farm Forum Conference begins! Members from around the state who are in their junior year of high school gathered for the conference. The conference is put on by the Wisconsin Farm Bureau and held in Wisconsin Rapids. Seeing all the members is a great way to end FFA Week and promote agriculture. Thanks everyone for and EXCELLENT FFA Week, conference, and February!!!!!!!
P.S. I know that the picture of this blog doesn't have a direct relation to the organization Farm Bureau, but if you don't already know I am an International Harvester fan and a fan of this magazine. It just works! :) Ta Ta, Jessica
FFA Week Day 3
Feb. 24, 2010
FFA Week is going GREAT in section 3!
Today Caitlin Roberts from section 6, BJ Chrisler our State FFA President, Randa Braune a National FFA Officer, and myself went to Whitehall for their leadership workshop. We presented workshops focusing on "Being a Leader is Cool", "Positive Influence", and "How to do Everything All at Once." It was an amazing morning with around 80 members from chapters around the area who came to participate. We had an awesome time and a huge thank you to the Whitehall FFA Chapter for all their hard work!!!!!!!
After the Whitehall Workshop we headed over to Arcadia to visit their Ag Department. We did a few activities with the FFA members there and just hung out, getting to know each other. The advisors gave us a tour of all their facilities and even made us brats that made in Food Processing class. We had a great time!
Tomorrow I will spend the day in Cashton and head up to Wisconsin Rapids for the Farm Forum Conference.
Hope to see you there! Jessica
Brookwood Bowling Party
Feb. 23, 2010
Tuesday evening I had the opportunity to go bowling with the Brookwood middle school FFA. It was so much fun just hanging out and getting to know everyone. We went to a tiny bowling alley where you had to keep your own score. Pizza and pop were also present to add to the fun. At the end of the bowling we talked about SAE's and got them thinking about what they could possibly do as a project. Thank you Brookwood FFA!
Keep having a great FFA Week! Jessica
FFA WEEK FRENZY!
Feb. 22, 2010
National FFA Week is here! I hope you have all been busy in your chapters doing some fun activities. I know my first day of the week was awesome!
Nick Palkowski and Emily Lezpona from last year's team came to help me put on a leadership workshop at Cashton on Monday. Students that hold a leadership position within the school were invited to attend. Around 30 students participated in activities that made them work as a team, communicate while being blind, and reach their goal through playing "tag". This was a great way to start out FFA Week and I hope all of you have started yours out great too.
Tomorrow I will head to the Sparta radio station WCOW (COW 97) for a radio interview and then go bowling with the Brookwood FFA.

Hockey Extravaganza!
Feb. 20, 2010
On Friday night UW-Colligate FFA Hosted FFA Hockey Extravaganza at the Kohl Center. Around 1,000 FFA members from around the state gathered in Madison for the event. The members were split into two different buildings where a pep rally took place. Members from the UW Marching Band and even Bucky Badger were in attendance. This was a great way for the FFA member to get excited about the game.
From there we walked to the Kohl Center and the game got underway. Unfortunately the Badger couldn't pull off a victory against St. Cloud State.
Thank you to UW Madison Collegiate FFA for all your hard work in putting this together!

CTSO & FFA Alumni travels
Feb. 15, 2010
What another jammed packed weekend! The team and I started out in Madison where we attended the CTSO (Career & Technical Student Organizations) Legislative Day at the State Capitol. Here we had the opportunity to meet state officers from a whole bunch of different organizations. We were surprised with the news that the team and I were going to get to meet the governor and watch him sign the bill saying agricultural education courses can count as science credits! This was very exciting for us. From there we were given a tour of the capitol and met with our state's senators and representatives. It was great to be able to have a conversation with them and learn about what they have been up to. This was a great day with great experiences!
Next we traveled to Manitowoc for the State FFA Alumni Convention! Here we helped with the auctions, presented children's workshops and put on our Half-Time reflections program! In short this convention was a huge success and we generated a lot of money for our foundation.

Do you like band or choir? Maybe you are really into singing and love playing an instrument. I know that for me being in the State FFA Honors Band was the best thing I ever did when I was a member. I had so much fun being in a band with around 80 other members from all over the state. The picture with this blog is me with some life long friends I made through being in the band.

Middle School Fun!!!
Jan. 19, 2010
Tonight Cashton hosted the first ever Section 3 middle school workshop! We had about 20 students, which is a great number to start with. Both Cashton and Sparta FFA chapters attended. We invited last year's State FFA Officers Emily Lezpona and Nick Palkowski to present a workshop and Cashton's chapter president Kori Trescher and myself presented the other workshop. We focused on talking to the kids about being a clear leader and the importance of communication! We had a great night and thanks to all who helped put on this event!!!!
I hope to see more middle school chapters there next year!
